and get a point across at the same time.

I've got a friend whose got AT&T@home service and I know for a fact he/she doesn't have any sort of firewall or protection for that matter. What I'm looking to do is get his/her IP address and leave a little message on his/her desktop. Just a notepad message like "You're being watched" Really freak them out. I've got a little info (like e-mail address and other stuff), anyone know how to find out his IP address?

Thanks

JG

many ways...
you could set up ur firewall or whatever to log all connections, then chat with them thru icq or some msging system, you could set up a website.. etc.
since you know the email, just send them something and when u get the reply, check the email headers and look for they ip

but, once you get the ip, do you know how to get into their system? just because they don't have a firewall doesn't mean they are that vulnerable.

OK, got the IP address. I know his/her PC is running Windows ME. They have to have some sort of "sharing" enabled right?

Anyone got any hints. I just want to leave random messages on their desktop :)

i really don't know anything bout security, but if ur lookin for some type of hole that'll let u just go around the system and editting/creating/deleting files, i don't think you'll find it. unless they have some sort of trojan installed.. but yea.

they might have printer sharing, or maybe even file sharing if they have a network set up. i dont know how to exploit any of this tho hehe
