Hey-
I've got a working dual boot Corel Linux / Win 98 machine- total linux newbie...
I've been trying so desperately to get my @home cable to work in linux, but I've failed...
Could anyone pleeeease tell me how to get it to work?
Thanks so much. :)

Not very much to go on. What have you tried?
Is your ethernet card up and running?
PCI? ISA? USB?
DHCP? or STATIC IP?

I don't know anything about Corel, but to get my @Home to work I had to type the following at a prompt:
dhcpcd -h cixxxxxx-x
Replace the x's with the computer name assigned to you by @Home. Now DHCP will work. I currently have this in the startup script so I don't have to type it every time.

I noticed alot of you are using dhcp for @home,or can`t connect. Also a lot of docs I have read are wrong,so heres the skinny.I got from a freind @home Dhcp is badd for any operating system using cable broadband Why?
Static ip you connect to gateway server it logs an oks your ip once, then your routed threw one of 2 name servers.=Less abilty for for isp to watch you!also your about 3% faster.
Dhcp you connect threw you isp main server (which is a monitored server)it checks an logs your ip for every connect, and wherever you go to keep the ip adress correct ,then threw your gateway, then your nameservers. Why is it monitored so you have the correct dhcp ip adress everytime you login or connect to a website.
Useing Mandrake 7.2 or later or Red Hat 7.0 or later.this tip works with others Dist too.Try these settings:
Mandrake like this
First turn off dhcp
Next unplug your modem
c789898-a.ca.la.home.com
dns 1 23.34.89.100
dns 2 23.34.89.101
dns server a.ca.la.home.com
net mask 245.245.245.1
gateway 12.12.12.1
In Red Hat your host name need to be like this
First turn off dhcp .
Next unplug your modem
Then run netconfig
c789898-a
net mask 245.245.245.1
gateway 12.12.12.1
dns 1 23.34.89.100
dns 2 23.34.89.101
dns server a.ca.la.home.com
Lastly for both start to reboot then plug your modem back in!
For some people don`t have docsis complient cablemodems this will up cap you.<----- now thats just too badd uncapped speed+cablemodem!
