I recently installed the tcsh rpm in Mandrake 8.0. I edited my /etc/passwd file for the specified user to use /bin/tcsh rather than the bash default. Now when I log in via telnet or ssh I get the following error message:

Couldnt get a file descriptor referring to the console
Couldnt get a file descriptor referring to the console

Here is the line pertaining to the user in question:

jason:x:501:501:Jason:/home/jason:/bin/tcsh

What would cause such an error? How can I prevent it?

Seems that Google is back up now, so here's the search results for that error (http://www.google.com/linux?site=search&restrict=linux&hl=en&q=Couldnt+get+a+file+descriptor+referring+to+the+c onsole&btnG=Google+Search).

I tried that google search myself believe it or not....the only thing is that allot of those are in other languages...

I just thought that if someone here had encountered the problem maybe they could shed some light on the situation....

The search continues....
