I am going to be installing Mandrake 9.2 on my system this weekend just got the CDs playing around with 8.2 for the last few days.Don't expect much probs with the install 8.2 detected all my hardware of the bat.Read all the forum instructions very thorough by the way but I have some questions.
Dell Dimension L500cx
256 Mb Memory
1. Have two H/drives a 15Gb and 7Gb, Xp or 98 will occupy 4Gb on primary h/drive and at some time in the future I will be installing Slackware.Can I use all the space on the first drive for Mandrake and install Slackware on second drive later.
2. As I have two drives is there any performance benefit to be gained from any particular partition setup using the two drives. For instance putting the swap files on the second drive.
3.Which file system type is best preferably, would like to be able to separate partition for data that the Win and Lin could access is that at all possible.What about the secureness of these file systems?
4.I have a video card with an Sis 305 chipset I would like to install checked h/dware list saw 305 chipset for AGP my card is PCI should that pose a problem is it wise to install the card and see if Mandrake detects during install or should I try to install after?
I may have more questions so thx in advance.
