I installed mandrake 7.2 a few weeks ago on an extra HD and it worked ok just did't support my usb mouse and a few outher little issues. I heard 8.0 mite fix my issues so i installed it on anouther seprate HD teh install went perfectly mouse was fully working. That was till the install finished. Instend of my normal KDE i was lunched into some thing resempling win 3.1 with an analog clock a cammand windows and no mouse. HELP! i am a very much a windows power user but linux still kinda baffles me.

X is not configured correctly.

Try rerunning the X configuration utilities. Xconfigurator, xf86setup and if you still have problems what starting X, post the error messages.
