Hello all,

I have been playing around and decided that I liked some of the icons in Windows, such as AIM and Napster. What I have been trying to do is rip the icons out of windows (successful) and make them icons in linux (halfway successful). I can get them to work just fine as long as they are 32x32 and on the Desktop. When I try to put it in at that taskbar (is that what its called?!?!?) it gives me the damned gear thingy. I have tried resizing them to 16x16 to no avail.

So my questions are: 1)How does linux work with icons? Are they just image files or in a library like windows? 2)How can I get them to work in the taskbar?

NOTE: This is not essential to me running Linux, but it is frustrating me so I thought I would ask anyways.

Thanks in advance,

Zach

EDIT: Using KDE2 if it matters. :D

here is what I do. I go to the company's website and grab a image of the icon ex aim then using the gimp I fix up the file, make it 32pixelsX32pixels and then place it in /usr/share/icons so u can find it later.

u never really leave windows completely behind. :-)

I can do that just fine but where I have my problem is when I try to put it in the taskbar in KDE2. For some reason it wont let me do it, even if I resize it to 16x16.
