for some reason my sound wont work. i just installed rh9, in version 7.3 it worked really well right out of the install but with 9.0 it doesnt do anything. i ran sndconfig & it played the sample so i saved and exited but i still cant play any music in X.

it also gave me some errros in the syslog:

that is some of it..

can anyone help me figure out why i cant play music??

did i maybe miss something in the kernel?

Are you using a built in sound card or one in a pci slot? If you have one in your pci slot that you want to use, and a builtin on then you probably just need to go into your bios and disable on board sound.

i had to get a new version of xmms lol. i realized i could use sound, just not in xmms. i dont know what the deal is with those msgs in my log but they went away after i ran the sndconfig & i can play music fine with xmms 1.8, the 1.7 version that comes with redhat is defective.
