Hi, I am running Mandrake 7.2--my first Linux box :) Anyways, I have a few questions for anyone who could help me out:
1) Sometimes when I select certain things on desktop, my mouse will get stuck in the time clock. I am using GNOME as desktop.
2) I went and installed some games off the ext. CD, like Tuxkart. When I try to play, it goes frame by frame and the mouse gets stuck in center of screen. What is causing this?
3) How do I get my scroll button to work on my mouse? I have a generic ps/2 mouse, and I cant scroll at all.
4) If anyone can tell me how to get my DFE-530TX NIC to work I would worship them as a GOD!!!

Thanks alot--you guys have been a great help in my first 2 weeks of Linux :)

I just installed Mandrake 7.2 this morning so I'm the newest of newbies but I did notice something that may help. When the install program was loading Tux it came up with an error message that something was corrupted or words to that effect. So that may have something to do with one of your questions.

1. Your mouse may not be configured correctly. Does Mandrake/Gnome have a configuration tool for the mouse. You can also search here http://www.xfree86.org/current/mouse.html for the settings to use for your particular mouse.

2. ???

3. Check the same as #1 and also search the forums here for 'wheel' or 'scroll'. I among others have been posting responses to the same question quite a bit lately.

4. Try the search again for your nic. Networking and Hardware are good forums to start in. You should be able to find more than enough to get it going.

According to the hardware database, depending on which model card you have (TX or TX+), there are two different drivers you can use. Please check out linhardware.com - Network Cards (http://lhd.zdnet.com/db/searchproduct.cgi?_catid=4) and scroll until you see you card listed.
