I've noticed on version .98 of XCDRoast that it has BURNPROOF on the main screen.
I'm not sure if that's going to help you at all, but XCDRoast is all I'm familiar with. Tried it, liked it and always use it. Does everything and more that I need.

I tried it, but it didn't even start to burn , it was just sitting at 0 percent and doing nothing :(

Christmas is coming up and a nice set of coasters makes a very thoughtful gift. ;)
Sorry I wouldn't know where to start except to search and search for the solution.
Have you tried the m/b and Plextor's website? Would they have their own usergroups, forums or knowledgebase that maybe others have reported the same problem and could provide the answer?

according to this article (http://linux.oreillynet.com/pub/a/linux/2001/01/05/record_cd.html?page=2) cdrecord supports burn-proof (seeing as how almost all burning programs under linux are nothing but front-ends to cdrecord it's all good).

cdrecord (http://www.fokus.gmd.de/research/cc/glone/employees/joerg.schilling/private/cdrecord.html) 1.9 has burnproof
