ive tried loads but theres nothing in the BIOS (Win ME based machine) and ive got no other ports on my box...help

try a different distro. you may have some luck using caldera 2.4

FWIW, I am using a USB mouse and keyboard with the Mandrake 8 beta. However, I didn't install the system with these devices. I just haven't tried a reinstall with them yet.

There was a flag in my mobo's BIOS to accept USB keyboard input. I had to use the mouse config from HardDrake to get the mouse up and running. As soon as I get a clean ISO, I'll try the install again and see if both USB devices are picked up from the start.
