Scanner with Linux

I have a new scanner pluggewd into my PC. To get it to work with Win98 I had to connect it to the parallel port (don't ask!)

My questions are:

1) How do I set things up to access it from Linux? (I have Mandrake 8.0)
2) What do I use for software to scan images in Linux(HP only seem to provide Win stuff to actually use their scanner!!)

It's a Hewlett Packard HP 5400c. FWIW I also have a Zip drive connected to the scanner printer port (and it works like this)

Search for
"[scanner model] linux driver' on google. Works for me.... Kinda... :P
