:confused:
Trying to install RH7.1 from within win98 on my laptop. Currently 30Gb HD is FAT32 all the way, and when launching loadlin.exe I get the command prompt window to pop up with the following info at the bottom before it terminates:
WARNING: Not enough free memory (load buffer size)
Do I need to partition my HD before or can I free up some load buffer memory?

Thanks in advance!

Alex

Btw, I tried editing config.sys and adding the lines:
buffer=40
files=40

with no success...still the same error...

Thanks

I thought loadlin was a bootloader and not a installer.

Would you not boot from the Redhat 7.1 cd, select expert install mode and use the partitioner (I would assume there is one included) to shrink your fat32 to allow room to create the partitions required for Linux?

Or use a 3rd party partitioner such as Partition Magic or some of the freeware to resize your fat32 partition and free up space for Linux.

I've never tried Redhat so I know little about the included partitioning tools. Of course you can always have a look at their online documentation to see if they have something on the subject of partitioning during the install process.
