how do i install linux 9 to SATA harddisk

i need help here .. do anyone know how to install red hat 9 to sata drive.currently i'm using xp on my new sata drive . i also want to install linux on this new drive. i hope there is somemone to help me here
my SATA DRIVE is from MAXTOR
80GB 72000rpm
