I'm trying to telnet to my school from my LINUX box.

so from the terminal I type...
$ telnet bla.bla.bla.edu

and it connects and brings up the prompt for me to put my user name in..

Then when I type my user name in and hit return the cursor just goes back to the beginning of the line, and I can type over everything. Almost like it didn't even accept my return.

Anyay with Mandrake 7.2 and 8.0 this never happend.

I tried all the diffrent terminal programs, and tried in KDE and GNOME and it does the same thing in all of them.

Its annoying me, when I want to telnet I have to go to Windows98 for it to work.

Thanks

Hey DJ, I have a similar problem when I try to use telnet. I suggest you try "ssh username@blah.blah.edu"

I found a way to make it work.
if I use GTelnet and put port 23 in it works fine.

Does anyone know how to make my regular terminal run at port 23?
