Just a heads up for any Red Hat fans out there...I installed the latest beta last night and I must admit...I was IMPRESSED. First off...the install didn't crap out on me like it did in the "Fisher" beta. The install went smooth as silk. The only problems I really saw was with the amount of software installed if you did a workstation install. I chose GNOME and KDE and it installed over 1.2 gig of stuff!! One very cool thing it did do however was automatically detect my monitor and I am finally able to run X at 1024 x 768 instead of the usual 640 x 480 I used to have to run it at because I couldn't find the monitor frequencies. The firewall it installs is pretty secure even with Medium security checked...I couldn't even get to telnet or ssh or ftp until I turned the firewall off completely..which is no big deal since this is an internal machine. I will stop rambling now and try to get some work done. Just wanted to give a heads up is all.

I am currenty using fisher beta and I am trying to download the new beta.....but it is taking forever. I must say that I have bashed redhat for 2 years now and I love the new beta, it rocks. All uptodate and pretty. This beta is a hell of alot more stable than my last distros.

ya, i tried to install the Fisher beta, the install freaked out, wouldn't run. I have the Wolverine discs sitting here, i'm basically waiting for this 700M download of..um.. entertainment goodies to finish, and then i'll go try it out.

Both Samba and NFS seem to be a little twitchy in Wolverine. Also saw a post where someone was having problems with DHCP.

Definitely a step in the right direction. Fisher was crap. :p

You can get Wolverine here. (https://listman.redhat.com/pipermail/wolverine-list/2001-February/000022.html)
After you get it or if anyone else knows maybe you can answer this question. How do I get my tulip-chip based NIC to work? I know the card is good because I'm on the net now in Win2K. It also works in Slackware and RH6.2. Anaconda however did not seem to see it during the install. I went to bugzilla and the fix that people did there seem kind of vague to me.
