an NFS server and path. i'm trying to install debianppc 3.0 and in the installation, the next thing it tells me to do is "Mount a previously initialized partition" i press enter and it says

Choose an NFS filesystem
please choose the NFS server and the mount path of the NFS filesystem. enter them in this way: server:/path

the main problem I guess is that my HDDs are not recognized. i have an external drive with MacOS X and my internal is totally cleared out. If it helps, my internal is 38.15GB ATA drive and the external is a LaCie 80gb firewire 400 (IEEE 1394)

How can I get Debian to recognize my drives?

Do you have any previously initialised partitions? You only need to do that if you have a partition that you need to mount for the install.

Also, if your hard drive is "wiped clean", as you stated, does that mean there aren't even any partitions on the disk? That could be the problem-- the installer doesn't see any partitions to do anything with. You have to use the pdisk partitioner to make some Linux partitions and format them. Then, you should be able to install onto the system.
