Where are the graphics that lilo uses located? I am using RH7.2 and lilo looks like a$$. I liked the way LM8.1's lilo looked and would like to make RH's lilo a bit easier to look at.

The graphic that LILO uses is /boot/message - you'll need to be root to edit it. One problem you might have is that although The Gimp opens the file no problem, it doesn't tell you what format it uses, so you're snookered when you go to save it. Fortunately, I changed my LILO graphic a few weeks ago, so I can tell you that it's in PCX format, which means that you're limited to 256 colours - but it's only 320x240, so it's not like you'd get a huge amount of detail in there anyway.

When you save the new graphic over the old one (having backed it up first, of course :)), you need to run lilo, again as root, otherwise the change won't be reflected when you reboot.

put a pic of tux in the place of the readhat ugly thing. or you might be able to steal one that looks like mandrake's. I always thought that looked good.
