Hello,

This is the first ever post I post here and hopefully, this is the right palce to ask this.

Basically, I know nothing about Linux (cause I've always been a Windows person, what a surprise). At the moment, I am looking into installing Linux onto my own computer and am a little confused about a few things.

Frist of all, I want to keep Windows and would liek to make a partition for it. (Win98) I am just wondering how should I go about doing that and how big should the partition really be.

Also, I am on LAN and my computer is actually the server, while there is another computer connected to my computer with Windows 98 as the OS. If I add Linux, would that create any problem?

Right now, I have a CD of Mandrake, (not the most updated version). I have heard that there are free copies on the net, does anyone know where could I get them? Also, which make is the best. I heard that Redhat is pretty popular too.

Thanks in advance.

Try this (http://www.google.com/linux?site=search&restrict=linux&hl=en&q=linux+windows98+dual+boot+howto) which will find you something like this (http://www.linuxdoc.org/HOWTO/Linux+Windows-HOWTO/).

To share resources on you win/linux network you'll need to use this (http://www.samba.org).

Try this (http://www.linuxiso.org) to find out how to download linux.

Adding linux will not cause a problem to your current windows network.

:p
