I finished downloading the first cd image, I was told thats the only one i really need.
anyway i'm going to install it, but i was wondering if the first cd has x11 and xfree86 on it? or can you just apt get all that stuff?
if not, can you "surf" the net from the command line?

You can surf the net from the command line. Apt-get "links"...a text-only browser. Out of curiosity, where did you get a CD image? All I've been able to find are those floppy installs, and those have left me in quite a pickle :(

You can get a CD image to burn of just about any Linux distro at www.linuxiso.org (http://www.linuxiso.org/)

Whale OIL beef hooked! Thanks for the link! The could conceivably make things a lot easier for me if I can't get my debian up and running in a decent amount of time.
