Hello,

I am a Linux newbie and I installed Mandrake Linux 7.1 for the first time last night. I am doing a dual boot with Win98. I set up everything correctly as far as my partitions go and I started the install of Mandrake. Everythiung went fine, but there was no option to specify LILO. Well, after I rebooted my computer I get this strange boot loader call GRUB. Everything seems fine, but I want to use LILO. When I am installing Limux, how do I force it to use LILO instead of GRUB?

Thanks.

What type of install did you choose? I believe in the simpler install modes it defaults to grub. Alternatively, you can go for a expert install, or just type lilo -v at the cli (Command line interface)

I did that in Drake 7.2 and had no problems.

Ok, that is probably where I messed up then. I didn't choose the Expert, but the one next under. I cannot remember the exact name. I will go back and do it over again, because I am also having problems getting it to see all of my memory too. Thanks for the help.

Nothing at all wrong with the newer Grub unless you prefer using Lilo.

Just in case you want to try Grub, do a search for grub here http://support.calderasystems.com/caldera to find lots of documentation on the subject.
