first - you can delete those posts yourself
second - rerun xf86config, and be specific about your hardware specs.

I can't delete the other threads, it says only an administrator can and when I try it posts another! What a pain

OK, I need to edit the XF86Config file from root right? Well, when I try, it says permission denied. What gives??
You dont necessarily have to edit the XF86Config file, but you should run 'xf86config' or 'XF86Setup' (both as root) and configure X for your hardware. It appears that the current default setup is trying to access a framebuffer device you do not have.

*hmmms*
You don't seem to have a framebuffer there...Usually this is configured in the kernel.
What type of video are we talking about here?

Well I got that working... then my keyboard tray fell on my computer (don't ask) and it rebooted, now it says /dev/hda7 has drive errors and I need to do maintenance. I really need help with this one...

nevermind about all this, I had to reformat that partition..... sheesh what a pain, fsck wouldn't do anything. Looks like a reload. Thanks
