I saw an old friend of mine on the street the other day. He's a big geek, but stuck in the world of windoze. Whenever i see him i try to sway him over to the light side, linux. He runs XP, on a blazing fast computer. I tell him linux is more stable, but he says XP is fine. I tell him its open source, he says he doesn't care, because he runs a pirated version anyhow. We go on like this for a while, and I begin to run out of things to say. It finally boils down to: windoze has the games. He's a major gamer, and won't live without 'em. So, the eternal question arises:
---Why should he run linux?
I want to convert him, but i don't know how.

Exactly. Why should he run linux? I don't see any reason for that.

Because the piracy police were anonymously tipped off by a source close to the prepetrator. ;)

But seriously, if he's perfectly satisfied with XP, then there's nothing to be done. It's not a sin to use windows, I just happen to like Linux more. If XP does everything he wants there's no need to convince him otherwise.

what i think the biggest problem is, with most Windoze users is the fear of the unknown, and they do not want to leave their "comfort zone", they do not know what Linux is like so they are just a little bit afraid of it...

i remember when i done my very first Linux install, i was a lost puppy, and it took me a few weeks to become familier enough with it to know what i want to have as a Linux desktop, and another month to become good enough to leave windows completely (almost)...
