Is there any easy way to get my programs to use QT instead of GTK. In Mandrake this was done automatically for all my apps like everybuddy, gtfp, bluefish etc, but now with Debian Woody, only KPPP and Kmail use QT. All other apps look really ugly as the font is huge. If not, is there any way to reduce the font size.

I think you will find that the problem is the X setup, not GTK and QT. GTK and QT are toolkits used to build apps, and as such (AFAIK) you can't 'switch' between them. It's either one or the other. The fonts, however, are a different matter, and are controlled by the window manager.

Thanks mrBen, any ideas how to change the fonts in blackbox? I know how to change the Menubar fonts etc, but not the standard fonts for apps like bluefish etc.

What I want to change is the font size for my gtk applications. If you have a look at the top right hand side of this screenshot (http://www.jamsession.co.uk/test/debian_ss3.png), you can see Everybuddy which has fonts are far too large and would like to find out how to reduce them. All my gtk apps looks this way inclusing bluefish, balsa, gftp etc.
Any ideas?

Try changing some settings in the GNOME control centre thingy - I think there is a font thing there. Alternatively, check the settings in EveryBuddy itself, but I think that GNOME/GTK+ will be to blame here :( Plus you might find that Mandrake had a newer version of GNOME than Debian - in Deb I could only get the really big toolbar, but in Mandrake I can get the halfsize version. This might also contribute to it.

Well done mrBen! I didn't have gnome-control-center, so I just apt-got it and that's made the fonts smaller :D
