i just freshly installed Mandrake 9.2 this afternoon. i selected all of the packages that i could expect for one or two. when i rebooted, none of them were installed apparently. i cant do anything with Linux but run it and change my volume control etc. should i reinstall Linux from scratch again or should i just install the packages. if only the packages how would i get the installation to only install that

Is it that the applications haven't been installed? or That they don't show up on your Start menu?
If you can get to a terminal, just use this command:
update-menus -v

You can try ALT+F2 to open up the run command dialog box and enter the update-menus -v command and run it from there.
Or you could right click on the taskbar and goto to Configure Panel and click on the menus tab, there you will see a menu box, in that box check Terminal Sessions, click Apply and then OK.
You will now have Terminal Sessions on your Start menu. Click on it and choose Linux Console. Just enter the command update-menus -v.

Where did you get drake9.2? I saw a leak of it hanging around but I'm interested in obtaining the "main release" I guess ;) or are you a DrakeMember?
Hrmm...well i want drake mainly b/c it comes chock full-o goodies and i don't have to install mp3 supprt, xine/mplayer, ntfs and things of the sort like i had to with RH
or does the new "fedora" include all that :D
