I just installed UT2003 on Fedora, and finally got it to work, missing DRI blah blah blah, so finally i got the game to run. Framerate is good, no slowdown, but the sound lags behind about 1-2 seconds on everything I do! I looked through the Readme and it said disable sound daemon. I know this is a big newbie question but how do you go about doing that? Any help is greatly appreciated

What desktop does your installation of Fedora use?
If Gnome, then you'll have to disable ESD. I don't know how to do that, as I've never used Gnome for longer than five minutes. ;)
If KDE, then artscontrol stop or artscontrol suspend will disable Arts (which is the KDE sound server). artscontrol resume (or start) will restart it.

thanks for the tip, alas i tried that in KDE (which is what i use 99% of the time) and could not get it to work so i tried it in GNOME after doing a little research how to disable it and you are right it is 'esd' command, and got it to work fine the first go round. I tried it again because it seemed too good to be true and lo&bhold it fsucked up again, 1-2 second latency in sounds. I went back to KDE with the same problem. Ill jiggle it a little more and see what I can come up with, but Thanks for your help!

This is the native UT2k3 install, right? You're not using WineX or something like that?
I do remember that WineX had some issues with sound lagging by a second or two in the past, but that was about a year (or more) ago by now...

ok ok heres the deal, i got it to work. Yeah its native i installed right into linux. I went probing around in the control panel and found the sound properties. lo and behold there it was, something like "load artscontrol", i unchecked it and rebooted. Works like a charm
thanks for your help i would not have known what i needed to have disabled....appreciate it
