Now, other multimedia file applications work, XMMS is the trouble maker.
Recently I decided to start using my on-board sound (Abit NF7 nForce2 sound device, it's posed to be a good on-board device).
When I try to play an audio file in XMMS, it says that it can not open audio.
And to check if:
1. I have the right Output plugin selected (it is the right one).
2. That there is not programs blocking it (no other progams that use sound are open)
3. My sound card is configured correctly (it should be since other applications can use it just fine)
Anyone know what may be wrong? I tried configuring the output plugin, but no matter what I do, it refuses to work. I tried pointing the output program to /dev/dsp for the dsp device file, and /dev/mixer for the mixer device file. I tried leaving it at default, nothing seems to work.
Again, other applications can use the sound device just fine, XMMS is being the problem. Any help is appreciated.
I am using Gentoo if that is of any help.
