There's an interesting article in today's NY Times (October 31st), focusing mostly on the financial strategic background.

I saw this on Slashdot. I couldn't believe that they are even thinking of doing this. If it does go through I'll have to find another search engine, because you know that they are going to take out the Linux, BSD, and Apple searches. All of Google is run by linux, what are they going to do about that?

Go to msn.com
Search for "xbox cheats"
Look at what the first listing is! (and it's a "top pick"!)

I may be wrong but if you goto the standard google page and add +linux to your search query it should do the same as the google.com/linux page.
And other search engines probably have equvelent features too.

It's sad enough that the google toolbar works only for IE6. What do they think...

Gotta agree, that's pretty funny.
I can't access the NY times from here, can someone summarise the contents of the article... please??? Or even a cut'n'paste into a file would be handy.
Thanks,
James

That's very interesting. But unless Microsoft buys Google outright, I don't think the Linux and Apple section is likely to disappear.
