I just want to run a little ftp so I can transfer a few files to some friends across town. Is there a good GUI based program that I can use with Mandrake 8.1?

i may be wrong, but gFtp gives me the impression it is an FTP client, not an FTP server. Can it do both? I need to serve the files.

If you have a dsl line wftp or one of the other ftp servers was/should have been installed with the install of mandrake.

As long as you have an IP address and you have a log in you should be able to log in.

Otherwise do a search at http://www.freshmeat.net for ftp servers

Ah, sorry about that. I didn't realize that YOU wanted to be the server. ProFTPD is very nice and very easy to install. (In my opinion.) And, it's on the...2nd Mandrake CD...I think. I like it.
