Help I've killed xwindows!!

Hello all,

I was trying to configure a spiffy new monitor to run at a greater timing mode, but in the process killed xwindows. I get a message (repeatedly) at login that xwindows was murdered and that gdm is already running according to /var/run/gdm.pid. I have no graphics. Any clues?

Type: ps -A to get the running processes, find the number next to gdm, type: kill <number> then type: Xconfigurator to reconfigure your monitor.
