I am looking for a way to run linux while still in windows on the same box. Basically I work for a company, where I need access to windows software, but would also like to have the ability to continue learning linux without the hassle of setting up a box and using VNC to get to it. (This also violates the Security Policy in my company as well)

Are there any distros of linux designed to work like this? Perhaps something similar to VMWare without that hefty price?

Thanks in advance!

Win4Lin is another one similar to VMWare, and much cheaper, but also lacking features and what not. Or maybe you could telnet into a linux box from windows and use the command line that way, but then you wouldn't have X windows.

Have fun

Edit: WHOOPS, nevermind. Win4Lin is for running windows from linux, not linux from windows. I don't know of anything else similar to VMWare in that respect. Sorry about that.

That's what I figured. :( I had heard something of a distro that would allow you to "Tunnel" into it, kind of piggy backed on windows, but I guess that's not true.
