I use Evolution 0.99.2 for my email client and I was wondering if there is a way for it to tell you when you have new mail in your inbox. I'm sorry if this is a dumb question, but I am new to linux.
Thanks.
Thanks.

I have a gnome app that does it, and there is built in support in Gkrellm to do that very thing as well. I have a tendancy to like using console mode alot, and found one program that will announce new mail via sound (announce1.6), but I can't compile it, because I need -lgen... I've been told that I need a ligen.a library, but don't quite know what I need to do to get that recognized, or even what I need to download to get all of it. I've been working on this one for months and haven't figured it out yet. Numberous searches on google and I finally found that libgen.a thing, but now what? I've tried playing with ld, but I'm not sure what to do with it, as my mucking around with it hasn't gotten -lgen to work yet.  Shadoglare 11-20-2001, 01:00 PM It sounds to me like he's talking about a notification built into Evolution - I don't use the program but I don't know, but he probably talking something similar to what Outlook will do, giving you a tray icon and a notification sound without needing extra apps... justlinux.com
