SmiZ 04-05-2001, 12:33 PM I had a similar problem with my new linux setup. What are you using as a connection? I'm on a college campus with DHCP and I was setting up my IP manually. Turns out I was "stealing" an already assigned IP address. I pinged it before using it and the person who owned it just didn't have their PC on at that moment. Since then I have switched to another IP with no problems. mindwarp.out 04-05-2001, 12:40 PM I could try and help you, but you have to include alot more information. A ip just doesnt magically disappear. Post the following things: output of: ipchains -l route ping www.yahoo.com (http://www.yahoo.com) ifconfig -a post those and I will take a look.
