FoBoT 03-16-2001, 12:45 PM you go girl!! ;) no hints, i have only installed debian a couple times, with no real problems, but not that X gui stuff, just a CLI install good luck! :) mrBen 03-16-2001, 12:52 PM I'm probably going on-line tonight to purchase a full 6-CD copy of Debian 2.2r2. I've heard too many good reports of it not to. Debian ? [ 16 March 2001: Message edited by: mrBen ] jenbass 03-16-2001, 12:53 PM A CLI install? I'll be putting my O'Reilly book to good use there then. Help. Could I graphically install if i wanted, out of interest? (Won't have the cds till Sunday) MBMarduk 03-16-2001, 12:54 PM I got the first 2 ISO-images on CD-R and installation is very straight-forward. IT gives you hints and there's always a way to go back. Eyelikedit! Uwill2! mrBen 03-16-2001, 12:55 PM I don't think they have a fully graphical Debian install, unless you go with something like Libranet, or Storm, or Progeny. Although CLI install isn't as bad as all that. I mean, RedHat 6.0 was a text install, but it's still prompt boxes, just no point and click. jenbass 03-16-2001, 12:59 PM I don't like point and click too much, anyway :) I'll have a careful read of the book so I know what I'm supposed to before i begin. I got it a bit wrong with Red Hat anyway - ended up installing the whole lot in case I missed something important, leaving it all too cluttered. Exciting! Aikidoka 03-16-2001, 03:52 PM Actually Libranet's install is not very graphical at all but it's very well documented. Debian  rod 03-16-2001, 05:27 PM You may want to look at this link to get familiar with Debian's install. A pretty good installguide IMHO. Debian installguide by Mark Stone (http://www.debian.org/releases/potato/installguide/) Have fun. Regards, Rod justlinux.com
