i hav tried that many times thinking that maybe they would put it there, but all they have are net installs of 7.2 and lower, and iso's of the live evals, including a 7.3 live eval. but that dosent solve my problem.

This seems to be one of the complaints about Suse is that people can't obtain .iso files. The only way is to do a full install is via ftp (which seems problimatic for alot of people) or purchase. I havn't heard of a site that has the full .iso files available which is rather disappointing since SUSE gets much praise in the community and I cannot afford to try out a full install either :(

if i had the bandwidth, id't buy it, iso it, then upload it, regardless of any copyright issues (which seems to be the problem if all you can get is eval stuff)

I might just buy it for myself, it sounds good...

SuSE was the first distro I ever used, I actually thought it was great. But because of how they are and the prices they charge, and lack of providing ISO's or even an easy download turned me off from them. I think you can download all packages and try to put all the crap together yourself.

Look at the price of SuSE firewall server, damn things around $1100. Thats MS pricing. They are starting to move out of the totally free to almost free and future licensing for their products wouldnt suprise me either.

I've got a copy of SuSE 7.1 It retails at £49.99 in the UK. For that you get 7 (yes 7) CDs and a DVD, a 600+ page technical manual, a 200+ page configuration manual, a 100+ page applications manual, a 30+ page quick start guide, boot disks, and some stickers. If that's not good value, then I don't know what is! The firewall stuff is aimed at professional company firewalls, and comes with support 'n' stuff.

Included in the distro is a whole load of proprietary stuff which they can't redistribute, although why they can't distribute the other disks I don't know.

[Oh I got my copy for free - in the space of 2 weeks 2 guys in my local LUG got rid of their SuSE box sets - 7.0 and 7.1 - I've handed on the 7.0 to a friend]
