Damn iptables error...

I thought I almost had it. I finally got this modem working on my laptop. As I was setting it up for netsharing,
I got this error: (after I ran my rc.firewall script)
iptables v1.2.2: can't initialize iptables table 'filter': Table does not exist (do you need to insmod?)
Perhaps iptables or your kernel needs to be upgraded.
Ok, so I grabbed the iptables-1.2.5.tar.bz2 and tried to compile it. Comes back with:
Making dependancies: please wait... Something wrong...deleting dependancies.
make: *** [/usr/src/linux/include/linux/limits.h] Error 1
Now, I dont have the kernel source installed, because I dont have that much room. And I've found that to get around these errors, you
need to upgrade kernel. That is unfortunatly out of the question, since its a p100 laptop, and I dont have space for it. What can I do to get bloody iptables to work?

You really should upgrade iptables as there have been several security fixes since 1.2.2.

Is there any way you can get an rpm version or maybe an apt-get package and use that to upgrade?

Lol... thats what I'm trying to do ;)

I've got Slack installed on this laptop, so apt-get and rpm's are out of the question. I cant seem
to find pre-build binaries... just source. I'll get onto rpmfind or something
and use rpm2tgz. That might work :rolleyes:

(PS: do you know how hard it is to post here in links? Its pretty hard...)
