What do i need to change. scinerd 10-14-2003, 04:17 PM If I where to guess it sounds like your dns is not working. I would open a command prompt and do "nslookup www.yahoo.com" if you don't get a list of ip's you need to edit your /etc/resolv.conf. There is a man page on it but the basic file is nameserver <isp's name server ip> nameserver <2nd isp name server> DMR 10-14-2003, 07:00 PM Try pinging or surfing by IP address instead of by URL. If you can do that, it's definitely a DNS issue. Try this: ping -c5 216.239.57.99 ping www.google.com If the first works, but the second doesn't, you do have a DNS problem. Have you entered the IP addresses of your DNS servers in /etc/resolv.conf? If not, do as scinerd suggests. ---> Moving to the networking forum, as this is a valid technical question concerning networking.... Bulldog_Linux 10-15-2003, 03:40 PM I've checkd out the /etc/resolve.conf file and the ip addresses were already set up the same as i have in my yast network configuration. I cannot ping to a certain cite but can to both of the network cards fine. One more thing to add is that the YaST setup and resolve.conf are different from the ifconfig setup as of late. I dunno if i've helped u help me, but that's about all i know0 I don't want to erase what i have said before, but i have now fixed the problem with the ifconfig-YaST argument and they are now both the same. I still cannot connect to the internet or ping a site. DMR 10-15-2003, 06:00 PM How are you connecting to the Internet? Are you going though a router or are you directly connected? If so, did you enter the IP of teh router as the default gateway? What type of service (cable, DSL, dial-up, etc.) are you using? It sounds like you're setting IPs statically, is that the case, or are you using DHCP? justlinux.com
