I just installed MDK over Redhat 7 yesterday. I've noticed some problems:

1) Some of the games and screensavers do not work. They are missing a "GLX extenion" thing or something like that.

2) MDK, although it is newer, seems to freeze up much more than Redhat. I have 128 MB RAM, and a 133 MB swap.

I installed MDK from a burned cd. Could it be that the burned cd was not correctly burned, and is causing these problems, or does anyone else with MDK experience these problems too?

Thanks

1) It sounds like your Xserver isn't using a driver with OpenGL support. Are you using the standard VGA driver for X? If so, you'll need to use the driver specific to your video card.

2) I really doubt a CD error could cause any problems like that. First, check your memory usage often to make sure yoru swap space isn't full. Second, shut down any services and kill any processes you don't need running. One of them could have a bug that's locking up the system.

But Linux is NOT supposed to lock up. If it's happened to you with two different distros, most likely it means you have bad hardware.
