I have just installed k3b and ran k3b-setup. When I tried to burn a CD everything went fine and completed normally, however when I looked on the CD it was empty (though it was no longer blank, if you see what I mean). I don't know why this happened and I have no problems burning with cdrecord. Help!

I am using Mandrake 9.1 with k3b 9.0
I have a MITSUMI CR-48X5TE cdwriter.
Here are the results of $cdrecord -checkdrive dev=1,1,0

[root@HPPAV /]# cdrecord -checkdrive dev=1,1,0

Are you sure you didn't have it to simulate a burn only?

yes. the cd was affected because it was no longer blank. i know this because i tried burning on it with cdrecord, i had to use a new one.

no. for two reasons, i don't know any others, and i like the features of k3b (easy dvd ripping, vcd burning, etc.) it would be nice to get this working rather than just give up. also, it is now complaining that cdrecord isn't installed even though it is.

I just thought that this might be a good may to see if the problemwas with k3B:D you could try X-CD-Roast

xcdroast works, so the problem is k3b specific.

this will sound really stupid, but where is cdrecord? i mean the phsyical file, so that i can chmod it back to the right permissions.

EDIT: NEVERMIND, FOUND IT.

K3b is a weird package. Whenever I install it, I have to reinstall CDRDAO and CDR-Tools.

After that, I recommend that you chmod +s (i.e. SetUID root) the two programs. This seems to solve all problems.

Horrible way of doing things, I know, but CD-Burning on my machine is perfect everytime. Just remember to enable those Joliet extensions!
