First Time Installing Linux on laptop...

I have never installed Mandrake 7.1 distro on a laptop before and i am haveing trouble with the resolutions and such. What are the preferable setting ona laptop screen, because i am unable to not have the screen look distorted and look all messed up and stuff, could someone tell me the proper way to set the screen on a laptop, thanks.

Most lcd panels have a fixed resolution. Make sure you choose the LCD Monitor that matches this fixed resolution. Then make sure your X resolution matches that as well.

Most LCD's are 1024x768 or 800x600.
