I can't get my connection to work, I am new to Linux and the installation was also a bit confusing, I installed all the defaults for workstation, nothing for the servers (my ISP hands out fines if you make a server :( ) Well I tried figuring it out but after trying a few times the connection still doesn't work...any help would be great. Thanks.

@home is charter cable, right?

You need to specify your hostname (that they tell you) when you start up dhcpcd. I think it is like this:

dhcpcd -h hostname

I have cable from charter, which I think is the same thing...

anyone on any @home connection (be it charter cable, rogers cable, roadrunner whatnot) has to have the 'hostname' that the provider gave you ...

When you say 'It doesn't work' I can't translate that ... *what* doesn't work.

Does the interface not come up? do you not get an ip? can you not browse, can you ping hostnames or ip addresses? ... much much more info is needed.

I use Mandrake 8.1 and Cox@Home, and they gave me squat. I used winipcfg in Windoze to get the IP address, Gateway, DNS servers and hostname. After entering all this info in netconf, you must unplug your modem (external of course} for a few seconds and then restart the X Server.

Hope this works for you.
