I am trying to use Samba 2.2.7a for roaming profiles for my XP Pro machines. The Workkgroup PDC is a WINNT 4.0 machine which is running out of room. The machine I am going to use for my profiles will have only the profiles while the NT machine will still do the Netlogon and store other files. Neither machine has enough space to do both and money is tight so a division of labor is neccessary.
I can see the Profiles server from my XP machines and open the folders but when I try to access a profile that I copied over to the Profile server I get profile not found and then it loads a temp one as local.
I have placed \\Profiles\home\%username% in the profile in the User Profile Path box of the NT machine and it changes the user name to "teacher" which is correct.
I have tried about everything from security = share to changing the mask and directory to 777. I have tried Wins support = yes and a number of other changes to the smb.conf with the same result. I have used smbpasswd -a teacher and gave it the same password in the NT machine. Any suggestions would be greatly appriciated
