GNOME 1.4

Dear LNO people,
I have heard the news that GNOME 1.4 is here. What is the difference from the ximian GNOME?
I am using REDHAT 6.2 and I am planning to install from source. The directions in the GNOME site says that I should remove previously installed packages. How do I go about that?

U would have to use the rpm command from CLI i think... rpm -U name.rpm to make it easy on yourself you can look up the names in fx. GnomeRPM...
From there on I leave you to the directions from Gnome :)
