Well, I have been playing with Linux for about a year now, mostly in a dual-boot enviorment. Well, the HD on my laptop crashed (HW not OS) so, since I have a brand new drive I am loading just linux this time out and seeing how it goes. This will be the first time I am MS free.

For the record, I am not a Windows hater, I just don't like MS policy. I have been happy with XP Pro and what it can do.

I am using Linux because I enjoy the fact that I have to know my computer and what I can do with it.

Wish me luck.

Well, I am up and running on RH9. There are a few things I need to get working, such as xine, and I need to get the windows fonts back. But so far so good.

i don't know how you get/install your packages, but i recommend freshrpms.net if you install apt, then synaptic, you can download and install all of your packages with ease. xine is available either through the synaptic or via straight download on that site. good luck!
