I just emerge'd a new release of X, and now I can't seem to start the damn thing. Here's the error I get (from the log file):
(WW) xf86AcquireGART: AGPIOC_ACQUIRE failed (Device or resource busy)
(EE) GARTInit: AGPIOC_INFO failed (Invalid argument)
(EE) I810(0): AGP GART support is not available. Make sure your kernel has
agpgart support or that the agpgart kernel module is loaded.
[X then unloads some modules]
(EE) Screen(s) found, but none have a usable configuration.

agpgart is enabled in the kernel, and /dev/agpgart exists. the driver specified in XF86Config is i810. I'm using XFree86 version 4.3.0 (gentoo revision 3).

I've googled the hell out of this, and can't seem to figure it out. has anyone else experienced this?

a long shot but have you run etc-update yet? also - did you try rebooting?
