Anyone else have problems with the KNOPPIX 3.3 not booting? It won't boot on my laptop or either of my desktops. The md5sum checks out ok too. The older 3.1 boots fine on all the computers.

That's weird. What's inside the cd? Are you sure you burned the "image" and not as a file?

I'm pretty sure the cd has been burned ok. I suspected that also, as I burned the first copy on a cdrw, but the second one I burned on a cdr behaves exactly as the first. On the laptop, it stops when creating /etc/fstab...
On the desktops it stops after detecting, or setting up, the AC97 audio. I've got an old Toshiba laptop lying around, gonna try it on that now.

hrmmm... I just went to dl it and knoppix developers have taken it down due to "software patent" problems.

The knoppix.com wesite has the warning about the software patent thing, but the mirrors are all still up. You just need to click on the knoppix link on that page.

Well, it booted on the old Toshiba laptop, took 30 minutes but it worked. I'm not sure what to do now????

It probably took that long because it loads KDE by default.

Once you boot with KNOPPIX, hit <F2> for the options. You will be able to specify some stuff..

I'm downloading from linuxiso now, the first couple of times I tried it just sat there for up to five minutes with only a few kb downloaded, but its moving along now.

Oh, I just looked closer and the mirrors are still up at the knoppix site, I guess after reading the software patent stuff I was kind of distracted.

just finished downloading and burning, took a look around and it seems to work for the most part. A few programs try to start up (spinning hourglass thingy) then disappear. I had this with 3.2 also. But... Mozilla starts but won't let me put an address in the address bar :-/ .
The only other thing I've noticed so far that could use some improvement is everything is bowed as if the monitor needs to be adjusted.

As far as booting in I had no problem tho :-/
