What problems were you having with your Debian install? Its insatller can be a bit cryptic at first, but the instructions @ The Debian Website (http://www.debian.org) are complete enough that you should be able to get it goin'. If not, ask away!

I'm looking to run a server without x on it. I'm still kinda new to learning linux, so an easy install would be nice. I was going to use Debian and not install X, but what a ***** that was.. Never got it working. Any suggestions?

hehe .. know what u are talking about.
When i gave up Debian i downloaded trustix.
Its a server distro and it does not have x-win, kde and gnome, and its small. The iso file is 180 mb, (all the debian iso's where 1,5 GB). I love it, but it does'nt come with progs like pico (i think) but offcourse u can download it as a rpm package if u need it. www.trustix.net (http://www.trustix.net)

I tried trustix. It seems to not want to install. It gives me a kernal panic before I can even get it started.

If you decide to use Slackware, you can just not install the X* series of packages and voila. No X.
