I'm not a Linux user and I've recently received a very vague assignment from my Professor telling me to write and give a presentation comparing client server architecture between Linux and any Microsoft product of my choice (please don't tell me to ask him to clarify it, I've tried and he's a jerk about it).

I need help here. What do people mean when they talk about client server architecture? Does it mean client server as opposed to the old mainframe/dumb terminal system? Or is there another OS aspect of it regarding processes and kernels I don't know about?

Can anyone provide me with any information on Linux systems when it comes to networking and the client server architecture?

Links or any help at all will be welcome.

Hey all,

Stormproof, I did exactly as you suggested and still no luck :/ I know iptables was not running this time. I get the exact same problem.

As for the network bridge, that never made sense to me either. Its a windows thing...whatever.

I've never seen a cable connection with static IPs...DSL, yes, cable, no

Thanks again, everyone, for all your effort.

That's why I apologized. It was a mistake, not a cross-post
