Click to See Complete Forum and Search --> : Hello
Right, so I got myself logged in. Influenced by the great movie Hackers(:)), I found myself browsing the net for Linux to download. Going through few pages, I discovered that best option for me would be to pay for my Linux using some distributor. On the other hand, I would like to see the OS in action before paying hard cash for it. That led to another problem. Ftp sites have hundreds of files to download from, and I absolutely have no idea what to download. So not to spam the forum with this thread, try ICQn or emailing me for any solutions or hints.
Thank you in advance.

There is a good NHF on what distro works for who.. Slackware ISO's (ftp://ftp.sunet.se/pub/Linux/distributions/slackware/slackware-7.1/iso/)
This is a link right to Slackware's ISO's, jsut d'l these burn the ISO's and your on your way to a better life.. or just better computer life..
As for seeing it in action, well, for just a CLI look, you could always telnet to
telnet:209.9.44.211
Just login as guest and password as guess, and that will give you a little sample of Linux.. not great for checking the "whole" of linux, jsut a taste, best way is to install it - play with it - like it - trash windoze - so on and so on..
Hope this helps

Is $10.00 alot of money?
Go to CheapBytes.com you can have just about any distro delivered to your dor for less than $10.00.
See if there is a LUG (Linux User Group) in your area. They would be glad to show it off for you. they probably have free CDs. That's how I got my first SUSE distro.
Good Luck,
