I know how to map a dirve in Windows (\\servername\sharename). If I want to connect to a remote data source (server or another PC) from Linux, how would I do that, and where would I do that?

If it is a Win* machine, then you need to get samba going. If it is a Mac machine, then (and I have no experience with this) you prolly need to setup netatalk (appletalk protocol). justlinux.com
