the external modem is prolly easier to get going, espcially if its a serial modem, just plug it into a serial port, fire up a dialing program like kppp and specify the port its on, and your dialup info, dial away

i know i did that... ive got a robotics sportster external voice modem with serial port, ive done exactly what u said but system doesnt find the modem! it doesnt show in the harddrake!.... i guess ill go buy an internal 56k genuine USR Sportster Voice.... not a ****ed up thing with a USR chipset :) thnx anyways.... im still waiting for more answers to my question..

ahh another, grrr, look harddrake doesnt have to see it, just dialing program, and it doesnt have to see it, just point it to the correct port, and do not try to use the wizards to do so, or you will never get it to work

you can recompile that kernel with high memory support to fix that :)
